Testimonials and Success Stories

“Thank you both so much for starting this beautiful place. I cannot even put into words how positive this experience was for me. I love how hands-on you are, it shows how much you love what you do. Your kindness was greatly appreciated. The way you treated us during the hurricane was absolutely amazing. I know that a lot of work went into keeping us fed and comfortable. Buying those air mattresses, towels, and cooking meals for us was so wonderful of you. I promise to praise this place to anyone who needs help. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of your program. Keep up the wonderful work.” — Brooke

“I hope I haven’t been annoying with my “update” calls almost every day. I just enjoy keeping in touch with my extended family! I have been to a meeting every day since I left and am building on the strong foundation I build while at Promises New Jersey. On another note, the addiction to spades that I picked up during my 100 days with you guys has been an issue as nobody in this house can play! Drew and I are desperate to get “alive with five” up and poppin’ again, but it seems out here in the real world people are a lot less enthusiastic about 10am spades games. It’s pretty sad that I am seriously considering teaching Drew’s parents to play. All joking aside, I am doing very well and that is thanks to all the wonderful help I received during my time at Promises New Jersey. What I put into the treatment at Promises New Jersey and all that I got out of the program is the defining factor in all my progress. I continue to apply all I learned about myself and how to live in recovery to my everyday life. It’s not always easy, but as with most things in life, it is what you make of it and as Ian says, “everything negative is temporary and everything positive is permanent.” I can’t thank you all enough for all you have done for me and for the people I care about. I have the tools to live a life that I deserve and try to live up to my potential each and every day. Tell everybody I say hi and to the new people, just hang in there because this place works miracles!” — Jessica

“This letter is for everyone at Promises New Jersey but more directed towards them. I am very sorry for disrespecting you and risking your company by stealing from the gym, that’s not who I am. I did not realize my actions effected so many other people until honestly, a few weeks ago. You guys did so much for me, thanks for the second chance and sorry I messed it up. I hope that doesn’t change the way or feelings towards helping the next person. Even though I did not stay the whole time, you helped me so much, and I just want to thank you. I have my family back and they trust me. I am happy with myself. I also have my integrity back. I wish I could repay you somehow, the only way I can think of is staying clean, which I am. I also think and use what you taught me daily and will never forget what I learned. And thank you for the second chance. Sorry for letting you down. I still think you guys have the best and most helpful rehab and Ian is still a genius. If there is anyway I can repay you please let me know. Because Promises New Jersey saved my life!” — Amy

“As I begin the New Year 2012 and reflect back on 2011; wow- what changes have occurred. I have been blessed with sobriety, hope, happiness, freedom, and peace within myself. Life isn’t always perfect, but I have gained tools to help me get myself and life back. The road ahead won’t always be easy, but then nothing is. It’s what you make it. The help in understanding my addiction, triggers, and guidance from Lisa, Ian, Sherry, etc. has been a valuable gift given to me. From my heart, thank you. I will keep in touch. God has a plan for me, and I am gonna enjoy the ride.” — Jane

“Words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have to Promises New Jersey and all the staff. Thank you for allow me to realize that it is not my inherent nature that is the problem, it was my inability to face my problems and my addiction which were leading me down a path that would have ultimately led to death. I am proud to say that I continue to stay clean, one day at a time. Not everyday is perfect, but my worst clean day is better than my best day of using! My time at Promises New Jersey allowed me to build a :”tool box” and helped to build a foundation! I look forward to returning to Promises New Jersey to spread the message of honesty, open mindedness and willingness… leading to the best thing ever- freedom from active addiction! I am becoming “the woman” !” — Jackie
