Dual Diagnosis
People who abuse alcohol and other drugs often struggle with one or more mental health issues. We treat both substance abuse and the underlying conditions that may be contributing to drug and alcohol abuse — like anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, and trauma — with evidence-based therapies and psychiatric support.
By treating substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders at the same time, clients are better able to manage their psychiatric symptoms, which may help them feel less inclined to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol.
Holistic Therapies
We acknowledge the connection between mind, body, and spirit and address all of these aspects in treatment. Our holistic therapies, which include recovery yoga, mindfulness practices, and fitness, help clients heal the physical and emotional wounds of substance abuse.
Holistic therapies give clients a healthy set of tools to manage stress and relapse triggers and can provide them a deeper understanding of the driving forces behind their addictions.
Trauma-Focused Treatment
Many people who struggle with substance abuse have underlying trauma that contributes to their addiction. Our trauma-focused therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy and same-sex trauma groups, allow clients to address trauma in a safe and supportive environment.
Healing from underlying trauma may help clients feel less propelled to cope with difficult feelings by using drugs or alcohol.
Medical Care
All clients complete thorough medical assessments with our clinical director and nurse practitioner. Our medical team provides expert medication management, which includes Vivitrol and other evidence-based medications, as well as psychiatric care for co-occurring mental health disorders.
Attending to medical needs and psychiatric symptoms allows clients to focus more fully on treatment.
Family Therapy
Addiction is a family disease. Our family program teaches families about the disease of addiction and how best to support themselves and their loved one’s recovery. Families participate in a unique group family therapy session in person or via phone and receive regular updates about their loved one as clinically appropriate.
Family therapy helps both clients and families begin healing from the damage caused by addiction and start building more supportive, healthier relationships.
Young Adult Opiate Track
Our young adult opiate track offers specialized treatment for young people struggling with opiate addiction. This program includes opiate-focused group therapy, a Vivitrol assessment and medication management, relapse prevention, and evidence-based therapies that encourage long-term recovery.
Targeted treatment for this age group keeps clients engaged in recovery and provides a safe, supportive environment among a group of peers sharing similar struggles.
Outpatient Program
Our intensive outpatient program meets in the evenings three days a week and helps clients transition back into their everyday lives with regular support and accountability from their treatment team and peers in recovery.
Outpatient treatment gives clients support and structure as they face everyday challenges and triggers in early recovery.
Art Therapy
Art therapy helps clients explore new means of self-expression and communicate difficult feelings they may have trouble verbalizing in traditional therapy. Our small art therapy groups include experiential projects like painting, using clay, and creating mandalas.
Art therapy can help clients express feelings and gain new insights into underlying issues. It can also serve as a healthy coping skill and teach clients to handle stress more constructively.
Individualized Care
No two people are the same, and our treatment approach reflects that. Our high staff-to-client ratio, traditional and alternative therapies, and weekly individual counseling sessions help us create treatment experiences tailored to each individual client.
Rather than taking a “one-size-fits-all” approach to treatment, individualized care allows us to draw on a blend of therapies and approaches that fit the needs of each client.
I connect with my clients through honesty, empathy and unconditional positive regard. Often times I am meeting a new client during the most difficult and challenging times of their lives. I choose to approach each individual with openness and strive to provide them with a place where they feel safe enough to begin the healing process.
Every step of the healing process is centered around the individual. Our team focuses on working together to communicate about each client's journey from beginning to end. Clients start by speaking with Karen in the admissions office. Karen will work with the clinical team to find the best therapeutic fit for each client. Clients will then have a full medical and psychiatric assessment with our advanced practice nurse. Then the client will meet their primary therapist who will collaborate with them to identify their needs as well as strengths.
